SaaS, Hosted, or Licensed ERP?

Are you confused by all the different deployment models on the market?  Can't decide what's the best option for your business?  iRely offers all these models, so let us help shed our light on the various options.

SaaS/Cloud
SaaS or 'The Cloud' are the latest buzz words in the market.  While this option offers clear advantages, it doesn't necessarily make it the best option for your business.  So, let's take a deeper look at this model.  SaaS is short for 'Software as a Service'.  Instead of purchasing the software and running it from onsite hardware, you pay a monthly fee to have iRely host the software in our data center.  Some advantages of this model include:

  • No upfront application costs
  • Reduced hardware requirements - No server needed
  • Reduced internal IT requirements
  • Scaleability - No IT and hardware barriers to growth
  • Application access anywhere with an Internet connection
  • No need to worry about data security and conducting backups
  • Known monthly cost

Hosted
Hosted offers many of the same benefits as SaaS with two key differences - ownership and upfront cost.  With SaaS you never own the software.  With iRely's hosting model, you can purchase the software upfront, or apply part of your monthly fee towards ownership.  By owning the software you pay a lower monthly fee than SaaS.  Also, If you decide at a later date that you'd like to move the software in-house, you can do that without having to purchase the software.  Otherwise, you still have the advantages of allowing iRely to manage the hardware and security.

Licensed ERP
While SaaS and Hosted environments offer many advantages, sometimes the traditional Licensed ERP model is better for your organization. This model requires larger upfront cost; however it has advantages such as:

  • Software ownership
  • No hosting fee
  • Maximum hardware/networking control
  • Reduced risk from Internet outages

If you have Internet issues or already employ an IT team, this might be a good option for you.

No matter what deployment method is best for your organization, iRely is poised to meet your needs.

Three-Tiered Technology

iRely technology is being developed using three-tiered technology.  What does that mean?  In technical terms, that means we're separating the database, business logic, and the user interface in order to most quickly adapt technology changes.  In practical terms it means that when new devices such as smartphones and tablets enter the market, we can quickly adapt our software to run on those devices. This is because we're only changing one tier rather than the entire software.  In a nutshell, three-tier technology makes us more responsive to your needs, technology changes, and market demands.
